Children receive a free Kazoo and a coloring workbook titled Learning About Notes & Rests. With the help of volunteers, children learn how musical symbols tell a musician what and when to play. Then Maestro Rubinstein divides the youngsters into a three-section ‘Kazoo Band’ and, reading from enlarged sheet music, the children put their new knowledge into practice by learning a special version of a popular tune on their Kazoos.

One of the highlights of the concert comes when Maestro Rubinstein announces the 'Kazoo Band' and dozens of children and parents stream out of the audience, run to the stage, and join the orchestra for a spirited rendition of an old familiar tune.
