Children and parents learn the basics of tempo and conducting an orchestra. When programming permits, six participating children (names selected by drawing) lead the entire orchestra in a conducting "relay" where each conducts a few bars of a lively march.

On National Grandparents Day this activity becomes the Junior/Senior Maestro Conducting Class and grandparents are invited to join in the fun with their grandchildren.

4:30 PM: Jr. Maestros get free workbook and baton and learn tempo and baton patterns.

5:00 PM: Jr. Maestros brush up on baton technique with Maestro Rubinstein.

6:30 PM: Jr. Maestros (chosen by drawing) lead the orchestra during the concert proper.
